Elizabeth Parkinson is a highly acclaimed performer recognized for her outstanding contribution in multiple genres of dance. She has performed worldwide as a principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet, Feld Ballet, Peridance Contemporary Ballet Company, Donald Byrd/The Group, Mark Dendy and Dancers, Martha Clark, and Twyla Tharp Dance.
Elizabeth segued to Broadway as the lead in Fosse and later in the hit Twyla Tharp musical Movin’ Out, where she earned the 2003 Tony Award nomination for "best lead actress in a musical" and the highly coveted Astaire Award for "best female dancer on Broadway". She has appeared in the films Stay, Romance and Cigarettes, and Every Little Step.
Elizabeth teaches master classes and workshops nationwide. She is currently the director of the Broadway Commercial Dance Lab at UNCSA and The Musical Theatre Lab at the Vineyard Arts Project. She is on the musical theatre faculty at Western Connecticut State University. Along with her husband, Scott Wise, Elizabeth is the co-owner/ co-director of Fineline Theater Arts in Connecticut. Elizabeth is dedicated to nurturing, educating, empowering, and exploring all of the possibilities of being a human artist with dancers of all ages!
Elizabeth will be teaching functional ballet technique during dansphere's first class series, the inner dancer workshop!
Samantha Burns graduated from DeSales University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in dance, and a minor in psychology. She has held numerous administrative positions within the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Count Basie Center for the Arts, the Billy Rose Foundation, and Helen Simoneau Danse.
Due to her immersion in various industries, Samantha believes that the artistic viewpoint is fresh and innovative. She joins Elizabeth Parkinson to found dansphere, enhancing the human experience for dancers everywhere, and empowering them to live robustly in any endeavor they choose.
